In ESMOVIA we want you to squeeze the city to the fullest while living your ESMOVIA experience. We want you to discover every corner of Valencia and make you feel at home. Therefore, in addition to the ESMOVIA Club, which offers activities for all ESMOVIA participants in order to discover the city, have fun and meet people from other countries and cultures through technology, sports and theatre, we have created a list with 20 plans that you cannot miss. Not only you will have fun, but you will also practice Spanish, meet new people and learn to orient yourself in Valencia as if it were your city:

In these months in which travel has been complicated, the partners of Digital Wood Artisan project demonstrated a lot of flexibility, changing the way of working and adapting it to the new circumstances.

From the start of the epidemic partners organized already one transnational meeting online, keeping always the contact also by e-mail and online platforms, monitoring the work in progress and designing online ways of holding the activities foreseen in the project.

The latest meeting, organized online on the 18th of November 2020, was initially supposed to be held in the Mediterranean city of Valencia, Spain and host by the Spanish partner ESMOVIA.

This was a crucial meeting within the project as partners had to decide the format of the last activities of the project to be organized in the first 3 months of 2021. It was quite challenging to adapt a one week on site training in the beautiful city of Oporto to a totally online training, but with the contribution and collaboration of all the partners we are seeing that another way of training is possible!

So with great pleasure the DWA staff is happy to inform you that the 5 days SHORT-TERM JOINT STAFF TRAINING EVENT will take place online in January 2021!

Other important aspects were also discussed. During the online meeting Eurosuccess Consulting presented the website development and Modus ry the dissemination results from the latest months. The partners were satisfied with the impact acquired until now as the indicators are almost reached. They also showed desire of engaging more on the website and social media as for the project to achieve more visibility in each country.

Quality evaluation was another topic on the agenda presented by the Portuguese partner AFN. The results’ analysis demonstrates once again that the partners are 100% involved in this project, keeping high the quality of the activities even in these circumstances!

As said in other occasions, it is great to work with such wonderful people that in these hard times are able to make the best out of this situation!

This unprecedented crisis needs an unprecedented answer. One that will serve us today and for many years to come. Today, the European Commission calls on EU Member States to invest in skills” said Margaritis Schinas, Vice-President for Promoting the European Way of Life.

Skills became fundamental for the digital transition and the green economy to develop in these next years, a key factor that will help us recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

In this framework is necessary, more than ever, to restart and to focus on actions that contribute to foster transversal skills needed and requested on the labour market, such as: teamwork, digital competences, communication, creativity, working in multicultural environment, autonomy, responsability, leadership, problem solving, ecc.

It is in this context that the European Skills Agenda for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience was created and presented in July 2020, an agenda made out of 12 points that sets ambitious objectives for skilling to be achieved within the next 5 years.

The 12 actions, that will allow us to train new skills and to improve existing skills, placing them at the heart of the EU policy agenda, are the following:

  1. A Pact for Skills
  2. Strengthening skills intelligence
  3. EU support for strategic national upskilling action
  4. Proposal for a Council Recommendation on Vocational Education and Training for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience
  5. Rolling out the European universities initiative and upskilling scientists
  6. Skills to support the green and digital transitions
  7. Increasing STEM graduates and fostering entrepreneurial and transversal skills
  8. Skills for Life
  9. Initiative on Individual Learning Accounts
  10. A European approach to micro-credentials
  11.  New Europass Platform
  12. Improving the enabling framework to unlock Member States’ and private investments in skills

This actions are foreseen to create 540 million training activities for adults by 2025, including 60 million for low-qualified adults, and 40 million for unemployed people. The number of adults with basic digital skills should increase to 230 million. By reaching these stakeholders the European Commission aims to  ensure that the right to training and lifelong learning becomes a reality all across Europe, from cities to remote and rural areas, to the benefit of everyone.

It is within this framework that the new Europass Platform was launched and the Proposal for a Council Recommendation on vocational education and training was adopted by the European Commission.

Next step on the list is the Pact for Skills, foreseen to be launch in November 2020. The other points  will be brought forward in the coming months.

Europass, the platform created in 2005 by the European Commission, has launch its latest version available from the 1st of July 2020 for all learners and workers seeking to improve their chances on the labour market and to find new learning opportunities!

According to the European Commission, this new updated platform has been created with the aim to provide users with useful tools and information to ease the digital and green transition and manage their career in the today fast changing world.

What is new: 

  • A complete, detailed and sharable profile: the Europass platform allows all its users to access the new online editor and create or update their profile (personal information, education and training, work experience, skills and competences, etc.). The language passport document has also been integrated in the profile. Users can choose to share their profile with employers or use it for education and learning opportunities as well as volunteering.
  • A personal library: a section inside each user’s account used for storing all the CVs, cover letters, certificates, diplomas, the Europass digital credential, etc.
  • Curriculum vitae can be created by chosing specific information from the profile, tailoring it according to the job offer or course. Various templates are available both for CV and cover letter. During the matching process in ESMOVIA, these are two fundamental documents required in order for our work placement officer to find the most suitable internship for each student.
  •  Tailored job and learning suggestions: users will receive tailored job offers, learning and training opportunities from 30 European countries.
  • Europass digital credential: a digital file, issued by the institution where the user studied at, certifying the qualifications and achievements to employers, education institutions, a document highly needed when moving to another country.
  • Information and support: Europass will also make easier the users’ learning and working experience abroad, providing relevant information including links to national services provided by Member States.

While the profile section has been the core of this latest Europass platform updats, remember that also others important documents issues by education and training authorities can be stored in the personal library:

  • The Europass Mobilityrecords the knowledge and skills acquired in another European country when completing a traineeship or a study period abroad. This is a document that ESMOVIA, together with the sending school, always issues at the end of each mobility in Valencia.
  • The Certificate Supplement describes the knowledge and skills acquired by holders of vocational education and training certificates.
  • The Diploma Supplementdescribes the knowledge and skills acquired by holders of higher education degrees.
